Thursday's Tastycake: Dominique Chinn

Just from this picture alone speaks vibes. This new lady on the scene has a whole lot to offer. She's perusing a degree in business, does real estate, partly owns a strip club, can cook a mean dish and is very down to earth. Not to mention she will have you drooling for days. With the demeanor she contains, I say she will be in a national spotlight in no time. She has the all-around package. You can't go wrong with that. As she opened her new website this week and just came out of her launch party, she took her delicate time out to do this interview. This interview will make up for the Thursdays I missed. Here's Dominique Chinn.

1. Introduce yourself to the world.
My name is Dominique Chinn (government name).I have a website that launched April 25,2010 www.DominiqueChinn.com . I am proud to say I have my real estate license, I’m pursuing my undergrad in Business Administration to own a couple of franchises, and I own a Gentlemen Club called Platinum City in Houston. 9629 Bissonnet Houston, Texas 77036. To sum me up, I would say that I’m a really smart, loving, caring person that strives for success.

2. What got you into the world of modeling? How was it taking your 1st photo shoot with Dwyane Darden of Summerbunnies.com?
I’ve actually been modeling since I was in middle school, so it has always been a passion of mind. I figured starting off modeling could open some doors to the industry of becoming an actress. My first photo shoot with Dwayne Darden was awesome. He gave me a great deal of insight on the urban modeling industry. He was very professional during the shoot, which made me feel very comfortable.

4. Talk to me about Houston. The food, the people, the music. Heard a lotta good things about Houston.
Houston is great. A lot of women out here seems to be cornbread fed out here (laughing) ,meaning there are a lot of fine women that live in this city. The food is actually good and seasoned just like I like it out here. Mouth watering flavors from different restaurants.There are also a lot of nice people out here also, but every city has different people from totally different backgrounds ,and values which makes a world. The music out here also jams.

5. What's your portfolio looking like (magazine covers, music videos, fashion shows).
Well I just became very serious about modeling when I decided to start up my website that launched April 25,2010. So far I was featured in the April issue of Straight Stuntin Magazine, Fannatic Magazine, www.SummerBunnies.com , www.Phat247.com, and www.HipHopandBS.com

6. Tell me how important it is to have a good photographer in your shots.
It is very important to have a good photographer shooting you. First and foremost a professional photographer where you can feel comfortable expressing the way you look and pose for the camera.

7. Tell me one interesting event that happened at one of your photoshoots.
If anyone have seen my basketball set on www.SummerBunnies.com you would have never know that I didn’t have anything on in 30 degree weather. I couldn’t feel my feet I was so cold, but I felt like I should give my viewers what they might be interested in seeing me in. Jordans on and nothing else (laughing).

8. You just opened your website, http://www.dominiquechinn.com . What can we expect from your virtual world? How was your launch party at Platinum City?
Well I hope you all can expect seeing me in more magazines, and possibly seeing me in the big screen one day. My launch party actually started off at The Blue Door, and it was jammed packed. Then, we went to my Gentlemen’s Club that I own out here in Houston, which is Platinum City, and it was also wall-to-wall I spent way too much money in there last night, but hey I made it back at the end of the night with the door and bar money. Any time you come to Houston you should check it out. The are some very fine, and polite ladies that work at Platinum City 9629 Bissonnet Houston, T.X 77036. So everything turned out perfect .It was a big success. Everyone showed me so much love last night, and I appreciate all the love and support that was given for my website launch party.

9. For someone that is looking to host parties, What does a person need to know to do this properly? (example: staying away from janky promoters).
That is a true statement. References from a great amount of people is one of the key things. You need to know the promoters background references. I book girls to come to Platinum City all the time, and I promote it to the best of my ability, make sure they are well taken care of ,and very secured.



10. Dominique, fortunately you are another beautiful lady that also holds it down in the classroom. talk about your real estate business and your degree in Business Administration(same degree i have yea yea!). And how much value does a Bachelor's degree hold in today's society?
I’m actually still in college to receive my degree in Business Administration. I want to open up a couple of franchises. I love owning my own business. That makes me my own boss. To be honest, you really just need money, knowledge, and a promotion team to have a successful business. If you have enough money to open a business that is a plus. That degree gives you the knowledge to teach you how to run your business, but its all about how you market your business which makes it a success.

11. You also were bitten by the acting bug at a young age. Do you love acting more than modeling? What acting roles have you pursued?
I took theatre arts in high school so I did plays , and I absolutely loved it. I graduated high school at the age of 16 years old, and had to take on life to find a money making business that was going to take care of my standards of living, which made me have to put acting on hold. I actually love modeling and acting. I have a passion for both. I can step out the box, and get into character mode for acting .I can also get in front of the camera for shots that are appealing to what the project is for.So it’s a very hard chose to pick from.

12. How important is fashion to you?
Fashion is very important to me. Every time I step out the house I want to make sure that I look good. My mom always told me whatever you do ,just make sure you keep yourself up. So, it’s something that I’ve been taught all my life



13. You enjoy cooking. And everyone loves southern hospitality. What is your favorite dish to make?
My favorite entrée would have to be fried chicken, collard greens, mashed potatoes, and corn.(Finger licking good ).

14. Ok, so you act, model, have a college degree, hold your own, and can provide. Basically you are an incredible catch. So what type of man is compatible with you and matches with your priorities?
My ideal man is a guy that has a desire to succeed, funny, loving, caring, and faithful.

15. Once a man gets your approval, what's the one thing he does that turns your temperature up?
Being very passionate towards me

16. The craziest thing a man has done for you.
I can’t think of anything crazy a man has done for me.

17. The one thing that pertains value to you:
My ability to strive to be the best I can be, as long as I put God first anything is possible.

18. What's your future plans looking like?(upcoming photo shoots, magazines, music videos)
I will be updating my site monthly. I will be featured in the June issue of Fannatic Magazine, and I have a couple of other things on my belt upon approval.

Wassup yall, this ya girl K.Michelle

Where you representin?
I'm representing Memphis, Tennessee, cuz we always keeping it pimpin. And That's wassup.

Tell me about life in Memphis. The hospitality, the cuisine, everything. Lol because I'm thinking of going there one day.
My life in Memphis.....I'm definitely a product of my environment. I've learned a lot about music, a lot of good food, and learned how to be a fighter, basically. Memphis is basically known for barbecue. We have Barbecue everything. We even have barbecue spaghetti and it's delicious, believe it or not
(That sounds yummy. I got to try that one day.)

What got you to start singing and at what point in your life did you decide that this is what you supposed to do?
I've always known that I wanted to be a singer. From the beginning I knew that I wanted to sing. I think the point when I knew i was going to do this professionally was when I went overseas to China and spent a lot of time over there performing with the Chinese orchestra. And that made me realize that this is something that I really wanted to do, and on top of that I was broke so I needed some money.

Talk to me about when you got signed to Jive/Hitz Committee.
Well, when I got signed to Jive Records, it was a very important thing to me. The most important person in my deal who has developed me is Robert Kelly (R.Kelly) and he's the one who took out the time to actually develop my sound. He didn't place gimmick records on me like other people did. So he allows me to sing what I need to sing and he allows me to speak the truth on who I am as a woman, as a mother and as an artist. Jive has been behind me 100% . Wayne Williams, my new A&R as well as Robert Kelly, those are the people who are in it to basically let me be me and let me be a real artist.

Your manager Delante managed Trey Songz and helped him to where he is at today. One tactic he told him was to jump on anything and everything. The same goes for you. So how many records you plan to slaughter? lol
Well, with Delante being my manager and him managing that other boy, and they told him to jump on , you know, different tracks and things like that. I been liking to flip things up. And I love music. Whenever I hear a record I like, I like to hop on it, have some fun with it because being an artist we hear a track and take it in different ways. Like you might want to say this and I might want to say that. But it's still good music so I plan on slaughtering a lot of records.

Name three idols you have. musically, socially, etc.
Three idols that I have musically are Whitney Houston, Robert Kelly, and Mary J. Blige.




Talk to me about Pain Medicine, your album scheduled to release in the fall.
My album Pain Medicine is therapy for me. It was like a journal, how people write down what they go through every day; There are two records that I don't like on that album so far but I'm going to make them take them off because of the political reasons that these tracks are on there. I want the tracks to represent Pain Medicine. If I don't like it, I don't want it on there. So Pain Medicine is going to be a real reflection of who I am. When people hear it, they will be able to know who I am and what I represent. I'm pushing for a September release date. I'm just trying to build my brand. I just want my fans to touch me and see me so I want to reach out to as many of my fans before Pain Medicine comes out.

This might be a little personal. Tell me some of the painful experiences you went through and how it translates to your music.
Umm I went through a lot of personal experiences that I choose not to give away in an interview because I can probably make some money telling it in a book or some shit. But yea, I went through a lot of things. Just being a single mother, being in the industry, dealing with a lot of coons in the industry and a lot of bullshit. You go through a lot of pain, a lot of eye-opening experiences that will break you or make you stronger. So I put a lot of that into this album.

On the conference call, you said you took songs back because it just didnt represent you. Tell me the importance of staying real even if you get signed. As we know, some artists does a 180 when they get signed.
I think it's very important for artists to remain who they are. All these people that invested in you invested in YOU. And I feel like you can become better. You can use your team to help you become a better person, a better artist. At the same time you can't lose who you are. You have to grow on your own pace. You don't sleep good at night faking to be somebody. I want people to love me for the REAL K. Michelle, not somebody who was created. So it's very important because there is only one YOU so imagine you unique and you make good music. Can't nobody mimic you. Can't nobody copy what you do.


Delante described how cool you are, chillin, sippin. What's your favorite bottle? and say you made your own liquor, what would it be?
Um I am cool. Yep. Lol. My favorite liquor of course is Jack Daniels. And that's wassup. That's what it is.


The things you like in a man. Or Dislike.
There's a lot of things I dislike or like in a man. That would take forever. I just dislike full grown boys. That's what I call them. Overgrown boys. Because they are really not men. So it will take forever to tell you what i exactly dislike or like in a man because I find something new that i dislike in a man everyday.

Is it possible to keep a steady relationship in the music industry?
Keeping a steady relationship in the industry is no different from keeping a steady relationship in general, in life period. Only place where I feel that a steady relationship goes smoothly is on the Planet of Pandora. So when it comes to a relationship, you have to figure out that's what you want to do, has to be the right person, and has to be an open line of communication. And you have to be ready to roll with the punches and you know, stay on deck. A steady relationship isn't different in the business if your mate understands your job and what you have to do.





15. Tell me about the feedback you have been receiving. Are you nervous about your 106 & Park debut?
I've been receiving a lot of feedback. I have people who has accepted me with open arms and everyday there are just new people, so it's amazing to see the growth and how people start to learn about you and embrace you. I also have the haters but I love them. They are only confused fans. They come to youtube and listen to your music, just like the fans do. It's no different so as long as you click and give me that youtube view and keep my name in your mouth, you are a fan. You are just a confused one.

Where will K. Michelle be at 5 years from now?
5 years from now I will be like Dave Chapelle. The fuck away from herre. I love music. I don't like the people in it. I feel like there are a lot of devils in this industry and I will be under attack. I don't want to be around them. I want to sing, get my story across, take care of my child. We have let Angelina Jolie go and adopt me a bunch of babies. Imma take all my money and run away. Thank you, God Bless and goodnight. That's how I feel about that.

ALBUM REVIEW: B.O.B. - The Adventures of Bobby Ray

This artist has always gained respect in the Hip-Hop world for his versatility. He can flow, with decent lyrics, play the guitar, play the piano, sing......what can't he do? His respect was unanimously intact when Eminem stated he's interested in collabing with Bobby Ray. That wish has came true on this album, The Adventures Of Bobby Ray. Add features from Lupe Fiasco, a comeback verse from T.I., and Janelle Monae, and you have an LP that cannot and should not be ignored. But the main reason why I think this album should be platinum(yes, dammit, i said Platinum) is because this album was a musical experiment that passed. He streched out all his talents to the sky and gave us quality music.

You would think it was a hip hop album because B.O.B is part of P$C and Grand Hustle. But after the intro track "Don't Let Me Fall" filled with guitar notes, you know your ears are heading into another direction. "Nothin on You" ft. Bruno Mars is a timeless radio hit that can transcend any market. "Past my Shades" with Lupe Fiasco can definitely make you think with the lean back guitar notes in the back. "Ghost In The Machine" sounds like it should have came out in 2012 with it's space-like melody. Hypnotic because you are tempted to play it 3x over.

This album is what I think every artist should look to as a blueprint today. When you making an album, you stretch your creativity to the max. Bobby Ray did this with his musical experiment and passed. Every genre has a part to his creative process, eliminating any boundary keeping you from getting this album. To cap off, B.O.B and Eminem gave you an introspective look on the last track, Airplanes, Part II (Reminded me of Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, Imagine, but more detailed) Eminem killed it as always, while B.O.B held his own. This album seriously is a work of art, which is why I plead to you to go buy this album when it comes out tomorrow instead of downloading it. It's definitely a platinum sound.

T.I 's pockets are gonna be obese after this album.

Michelle was featured on the call and according to everyone on the call, she is not to be taken lightly, especially when Delante described her as "the Mary J Blige of 2010". If you not familiar with Delante, him and his team managed who is now the RnB king, Trey Songz up until early this year. You see where he ended up.

Also my FSDJ fam were the ones that broke out with the Flex record all over the country. So when these people say pay attention to K. Michelle, I listened. And i smile. They weren't lying.

Ok, on this intro, i'm going to be brutally honest(when have I not). I knew about this cannon for a few years, because we have the same group of friends. The very first time I heard his music, I wasn't with it because it sounded different. He was making 2010 music in 2007. I guess my 19-yr-old self back then wasn't ready. Fast forward to today and both of us has made major moves in this game to become respected in Philly as well as this industry. So it only makes sense for us to collide and give you real ish for you all to here. I'm real proud to know him and confident to say he is the next big thing in music. How couldn't he if he collabed with the very top music has to offer? Ya mean? So on the eve of the scheduled release of his anticipated mixtape, Purple Rain, i give you Rainman....Captain Hooks. Tommy Stars:

1. State Your Name Cannon:

They call me Tommy Tommy Tommy Tommy Stars!! Aka Captain Hooks lol Tommy Stars on deck!

2. Where you represent:

I represent every hood where people are struggling and tryna do something better for themselves, but I was born and raised in Philly(Logan)

3. What made you start rapping? When did it all start?

I have always been into music since I can remember. I have been in bands since 1st grade but I started rapping in about the 7th grade.

4. Talk about the Commission:

The Commision is my movement. It consist of Most Famous my right hand with the song and hook writing female emcees Tiani Victoria and Chyna Cavalli, singer/songwriter Risa, my business partner Chris aka dj Circuit Breaker, Dj Young Legend, A.Boogie and Dj Benz(me). The Commision is the future of the underground hiphop scence. We are about to change the way the underground is moving. We are the future.

5. How did you first meet up with D-Block and talk about how you got on the album, No Security.

I met up with D-Block through my former management's cousin. He lived in the same building as Bully who's with D-Block and we started recording up at Vinny Idols studio too. Bully recorded in there too so I laid this track called I look mean and Bully was like "yo can I get on that"..it was sorta like history from there. I started recording at the main D-Block studio after that and from doing hooks for Bully, Styles and Sheek over heard them. It was a rap after that. I laid all the hooks for No Security in 30 minutes flat. Styles was super impressed at how fast I worked and I've been dealing with them ever since.

6. One thing I've noticed is that your networking game is on point. Tell everyone how important it is to do that, and how to network THE RIGHT way.

Networking is the key to success. Being successful in the music business or any business is not about talent or skills, it's about who you know and that's a fact. A closed mouth does not get fed. You don't always have to have money to make things happen. Use your talent to your advantage. If you have crazy bars offer ghost writing in exchange for something if you produce offer beats for something. I write hooks that's my currency.

7. Purple Rain comes out this week. Streets only. When will it be out online?

Purple Rain will be available mid May hopefully. Our part is complete its all up to the processing that iTunes has to do.

8. Tell me more about your next mixtape. I should say album because you really went in.

You said it right. It's far from a mixtape. It's 365 days of grind studio time thought and sweat. It is the perfect summer CD aka sex on beat lol. 17 tracks I think and two hidden for the street release and a bonus for the online buyers. It's nothing like these Philly rappers. The total opposite. I've created my own lane of music.

9. On Purple Rain, You collabed with Drake, Lil Wayne, and Trey Songz. All original material. Today they are the top three artists in the game. Tell me what went on in the studio as you create bangers with these superstars.

I was never in the studio with them. The tracks were flown over and that's how they where created. That's a thing that seems to be the past this day and age, meeting artists in the studio at the same time but it's a blessing to have these records with these major artists even if it was done in the 2010 manner lol.

10. What should take place in order for Tommy Stars to be the next big artist out?

People have to take time to listen, that's all plain and simple just listen to the music. You can't deny good music. I am already the next big thing. I just need that co-sign from the streets and it will come as soon as the streets turn their ears away from the bullshit and tune in to quality talent and great music once that happens you a see the outcome for yourself.

11. What do you feel about the state of Hip Hop in Philadelphia? Your opinions on other Philly stars like Meek Mill, Tone Trump, etc.

They are doing their thing. They do what they do. I do what I do. We all have different lanes. I don't really focus on other artists cause they not focused on me lol at least I don't think they are. But the state of hip-hop in Philly right now to me is one sided. The radio stations play the same artist all day everyday but we all know what the almighty dollar can do.

12. Another great collab you told me about: You and Solange Knowles. How was that like and can we hear that record anytime soon?

Same situation with her was the same with the other big artists. The tracks were flown over and they were recorded at separate studios. The track has been out for about 2 years now. You can google it. It's called little love.

13. You are basically "Captain Hooks". What is the recipe of cooking up a perfect collaboration?

Its putting two good musicians together whose goal is to make good music, not just do it cause two artist are buzzing and they have a beat from a known producer. It's me hearing a beat writing the hook then hearing the perfect artist besides myself on the track or if I think it needs a second artist on it.

14. Name one artist that you would love to collab with but you haven't already.

Kanye West I would love that

15. What is the ideal type of woman you like? Do you believe she still exist?

Yes I do believe she does exist because she just has to be honest, untainted by the world. I thought I had the perfect female twice and time proved me wrong twice but God works in mysterious ways so maybe even though I wanted those females it wasn't in Gods plan.

16. Describe to the readers what a Philly girl is like. Lol

Lol imma pass on this cause my opinion will become a major event lol but some of the traits are driven, crazy, educated, ghetto, sexy, talented I could go on I love my Philly females they are a diverse bunch :)

17. Craziest story involving a groupie lol.

Lol I don't have groupies lol I have loyal supporters who sometimes are turned on sexually by me lol but I don't have any wild stories :)

18. Lebron or Kobe?

Kobe all day he's an amazing player. He's this generation's Jordan and I've seen Jordan in action and its tough to top Jordan but Kobe's gonna do it. I see that he's still very young still learning and he's the best in the game period right now.

19. What's the next steps for Tommy Stars?

Grind city push Purple Rain like its a album and I'm working on my next CD entitled Graffiti Bridge and wait to see what God's next move for me is.

The thing about DDB is that those were songs i were working on for about two years, so some songs you could hear my progression in, but with " Sleeping In The Clouds " it will be nothing but the best verses, lyrics, production, & versatility .

My first show will be this friday ( april 16th ) at William & Mary University in Williamsburg, VA for a fashion show . I'll be performing with NES .

DJ T-Dubb: The Commission (Album)

Whenever I think of "The Commission" in hip hop, i think of the supergroup that was supposed to come together, you know, Biggie, Jay-Z and Charli Baltimore. When DJ T-Dubb came together with The Commission, it's a similar concept; Bringing real hip-hop back to the forefront. Since the DJ is responsible, he's doing his job word for word. Just because you are not DJ Khaled doesn't mean you can make an album.

I talked with the Spin Syndicate/Team Skyy captain/Virtual Assassin about this album:

"Well I did this album to get back to the essence of the DJ and Hip-Hop. A DJ’s job is (was) to break new music and give the people some new artist. And That’s all I'm trying to do with this project. Now you can do that with a mix tape and all but then with a mix tape you know us, we gonna talk on it and all. So what I did, I took a page from DJ Khalid and DJ Drama. They get a collab of various artist for their albums, so I did the same thing but on an indy level..
Now there are some majors on here, but its mostly new and upcoming artist that are really doing their thing in the area they are from. But with that being said, who's call is it to say who is major and who isn't. Its more like more known that the next one. But here are some of the artist, there is Credimac, Trigger The Gambler, Mike Carleon, J’Sar, Tony Moon, Freeze, Noah-O, Jah-I-Witness Emcee, Bad Seed, Talib, Mims, Nia The Fox (And man she is a fox too lol) Louie Millz and B-Palma, Canayda, Joey Gallo, Kleph Dollaz, Nottz Raw and others...

See my point? In a recent report, Warner Bros. sent Copyright Infringement Claims to Top Urban Websites/Blogs on Behalf of Gucci Mane. So sites like Datpiff, ThatCrack, mixtapepass and others were temporarily shut down and had to pull every mixtape that had a Gucci Mane track on it.

Here are all the stupid decisions this so-called rapper made: One of the recipients of this lawsuit is Coast 2 Coast CEO Kyle " Lil Fats" Hiersche. The crazy thing is we don't host files on the Coast2Coast website. We just promote it. Why would we get sued for just saying a message. That's like your friend punching you in the eye because you told him you caught his wife fucking his cousin.

I don't understand how Gucci can try to take away mixtapes that MADE him! Tell me with a straight face his album The State vs. Radric Davis launched his career. YOU CAN'T! Why would he disapprove with the culture of mixtapes , if he made BURRR PRINT? BRRRUSSIA? Guccimerica?? C'monnnn. Burrprint 2 coming out with DJ Holiday any minute now. Is Gucci suing him??

To try to use every tactic to make a penny just means one of two things: One, money is your God and you will get it in front of everything else in life. or two; you are not as icy as you say.

To charge us DJs to spin your music is just plain stupid. We basically promoting you artist for free! That's why we charge you artists to get on. How many times a girl walks over to the booth, ask you to play Gucci and you roll your eyes? but you play his track anyway? But now we getting sued for putting Gucci on our mixtapes. The ash on his lips is probably getting to him.

Personally I thought Gucci was funny and a catchy rapper. Catchy phrases that make people laugh right? I'm not laughing anymore. I'm a Coast 2 Coast DJ, and Lil Fats says we are banning ALL Gucci Mane tracks on our products. If you dont want us to promote you, fine. Try making a career by yourself. Seriously. Any artist that is reading this and saying "WTF is Benz talking about?" I dare you. Don't contact Any DJ and go straight to the label to get a deal. See how that works out. Because they themselves are fucking up. How are the album sales? When your album coming out? Pushed back again??....

I have the privilege of reminding the fans and introducing the newcomers to this special artist. I met her around a devastating time in my life. I was just leaving the point of sadness about the earthquake in Haiti and going towards determination to help. The question was.....how? This phenomenal woman answered that question by founding Hip Hop 4 Haiti, which I joined shortly after. She's all about helping the underdog and educating the youth, and looking fly doing it. She's probably not an artist. She's probably an activist but just took the artist route. So pay attention to this gangsta; Minister Louis Farrakhan's stepdaughter who collabed with Wu-Tang. A Queen. Queen Yonasda:


1. State your name cannon:

YoNasDa (pronounced Yo-Naja-Ha)

2. Tell the people about your upbringing. I read your bio and it was inspiring to say the least.

Well thank you I am a proud Native American and Black woman I was born in Washington DC during the Longest Walk a protest from the American Indian Movement. My mother was an activist and motivational speaker and my father was in and out of prison all my life. I lived everywhere, so I developed a national and bigger way of thinking.

3. Tell me what Yonasda mean.

It was given to me by a Navajo Medicine Man it means Precious Jewel in Dine which is the language of the Navajo people. I am Oglala Lakota, my mother and family is from Pine Ridge, South Dakota

4. How did you first meet Minister Louis Farrakhan and what important role does he play in your life?

He and my mother were great friends before I was born, my mother use to work for Muhammad Ali, when my mother went to prison, the Hon.Min.Louis Farrakhan and his family adopted my brother and I, he is like a father figure in my life.

5. What got you to start rapping?

I looked at Hip Hop as an escape from the struggles I was going through, I started off engulfing myself in all aspects of hip hop from breakin, deejaying, graffiti and rhyming, I started doing spoken word and just rap with some of my high school crews, but I took it professionally when I met Ked from the Dungeon Family and he told me I should really do it forreal, he said that I gotta story to tell and a nice voice I should really go in and since then I went in =)

6. How did you link up with Raekwon and how was it when you went on tour with him out of your own pocket?

Well I met Cappadonna in 2004 and I woud be his hype-girl at his shows and pay my dues, recording songs with him, grinding out with Cappa. Well, being around Cappadonna I met the rest of the Clan, plus I was living in Staten Island so I met the Clan and affialiates,etc. So, I met management for the Clan members and they saw my hustle, heard my music and my first show I booked was at BB Kings in New York City with Raekwon and Cappadonna, it was funny cuz I rocked it and Cappa was shocked I booked that show. So from there I paid my dues on the Method Man & Redman tours, then the Footprints of Hip Hop Tour, the 8 Diagrams Tour with Wu Tang Clan and I would do spot dates or region dates. When I was about to do a few dates with Ghostface I got a call from Icewater INC and they gave me the go ahead that I can do the whole Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 Tour. I was estatic cuz bein a female rapper is hard and it was my opportunity to go to city to city and really show everyone that yes the female rapper is not dead. Yes, I recieved alot of naysayers like "Who is she? She doesn't deserve it, she isn't signed, who's vouching for her etc etc" But I put my best foot first and smashed every show. The love I recieved was overwhelming, yeah it was difficult at times but I stepped out on faith and went to over 25 cities with $2500 and I thank Raekwon and the whole IceWater Inc team and Capone for believing in me and showing me love and respect on that whole tour.




7. Talk about your album, "God, Love, and Music". How you linked up with legends like Cappadonna and Keith Murray?

I'm a very electic person, I love and experienced so much in life there isn't nothing that anyone can say that I cannot relate to, yeah it was hard but from my life experiences is what has me make music people from all various backgrounds can relate to and God.Love & Music is the 3 elements of the universal language of man. It has rock,soul,concious, salsa,reggae all on this album. I met Keith Murray surprisingly through myspace, he admired my music and of course I always loved his music and he is truly an emcee and performer. So after hours to months to years of building over the phone, he flew out here and we begin recording something raw and different but it didn't transpire to what we wanted to he did a guest appearance on a song I already had. But I pray there will be a Keith Murray and Queen YoNasDa collab very soon. In regards to Cappadonna and myself, well that's a book..... but I could say that we have songs for days together.. some on this album and some that either he or I would release in the near future. Thats over 5 years knowing eachother so we got stories,memories and music to last a lifetime.

8. Talk to me about your single "So Special" produced by NO ID.

Oh my God!!! I am soooo excited about this song. Because when No ID met me, he told me he wanted to work with me, and really produce me. After a year of talking he FINALLY gave me a beat and told me to write to it, tell my story but still make people dance, he gave me advice on what I need to do as an artist. Now, I admire No ID because he has wrked with the best of the best Common,Jay Z, Nas, Kanye West and the list goes on and on, and when I wrote So Special and emailed it back to him he said he loved it. Its very testimonial for me, every line I wrote is exaclty what I have been going through but at the end of the day through it all I am blessed!! And you are blessed as well!! I am shooting the video in 2 weeks and I believe people are gonna be surprised on how I flip it, its gonna be on some movie, Michael Jackson type of vibe.

9. When is "God, Love and Music" coming out?

I would love to collab with Rhymefest, Kanye West, Common, Talib Kweli, Mary J, Santogold, Eve, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef, The Neptunes, Jay Electronica, Jill Scott, Rakim, Nas, Eminem, Ludacris, Diddy, Maroon 5, Eric Sermon, Denaun Porter, 9th Wonder, Keyshia Cole, Monica, E.Badu, Stevie Wonder, Bono, Public Enemy, Melonie Fiona , Black Eyed Peas... I seriously could go on and on I just admire so many people old school, new school, I don't care if you got the number 1 song out, if its not raw talent I don't wanna work with you. I love realness and rawness.






12. To all that doesn't know, you are the brainchild that started the Hip Hop 4 Haiti movement, which I am proud that I'm part of. Tell everyone how did you start it and the process of this growing from you to 35+ cities:

DJ Benz it was a pleasure that you reached out to make this happen. When I saw it all over the news I just couldn't text to send money when I am an activist and rapper and I know the influence hip hop has on making a difference. So I used all social networking sites and made Jan.30th a National Day of Obeservance for Hip Hop 4 Haiti. It was amazing that the Hip Hop Caucus and Allhiphop.com and other national media all helped us get the word out. We didn't have a huge budget, it was all people like you and I that said we are gonna put together events on this day and stream it live on ustream. It was sooo beautiful on that day. And we made sure that everyone in Haiti got all our money and our donations, we went through trusted Haitain American organizations that have history in Haitian Relief before the earthquake and tsunami which I am more proud of especially when so many people donated to other organizations and no one still havent gotten anything.

13. What's next for Hip Hop for Haiti and the Caucus? I'm still very much involved and will not stop, period. And I have my people that want join.

After Jan.30th we urged everyone to continue to stay informed with the Hip Hop Caucus Hip Hop Help Haiti, because they are an organization and Hip Hop 4 Haiti was a movement. On local levels many of the organizers met soo many people and continue to do things in their community. In Phoenix, the Haitian Church opened a Haitian Relief Center that goes directly to their familiies in Haiti. Next year I wanna have another Hip Hop 4 Haiti on Jan.30 so we can continue keeping people aware and the progress of Haiti.


14. You know how commercial Hip Hop is doing: Songs that just have a gimmick or a catchy phrase. How important is it to be intellectual and to teach lessons in our artform?

Its very important! A rapper's responsiablity whether they like it or not is to be a role model, children today are more being raised by media than their parents. I mean they use hip hop to teach kids now, so we have a huge resposiablity. I try not to be preachy cuz I don't want my songs to fall on a deaf ear, but I do tell my story and try to uplift at the same time.


15. Remember the conversation we had way back about your family in Wyoming? Tell me more about it. How important is it for everyone to know about poverty in our own country?

Huh, Wyoming? Hahaha South Dakota, Pine Ridge... it is the poorest community in the United States, 89 pecent of the people are unemployed, I have family living in makeshift homes, its really bad there I will be filing this summer when I go out there so people can see what I am talking about. And so hopefully people can help out my tribe.

16. As of now you reside in Phoenix, same city as my homegirl J Milly. Tell me about the AZ hip hop scene:

I am back and forth from the east coast and Arizona. Arizona is my hometown though, I grew up there, we had to develop our own hip hop scene, alot of greats passed through throughout the years DJ Z-tripp, Ice Cube, Adina Howard, CeCe Peniston, Kool G Rap, now its like a melting pot so many people are not from here and taking over the hip hop scene and saying they representing Arizona, I mean I heard the sayin "its not where you from its where you at" but see the probelm with that is Arizona hasn't developed a "sound" for Arizona, so people that go outside of here and say they from Arizona but really from other places they sound like the other places and not Arizona. When I was living in New York, they would ask me where I was from? Or when I go to Cali they would ask me where I was from even in Chicago they would ask me where I was from? So I know I don't sound like those other places, I'm not saying I have a sound for Arizona, but I do know all the real Arizona rappers need to come together and develop a sound for Arizona. I love Arizona, its peaceful to me, I went through everything with Arizona, the marching for the King Holiday, the harrassment from cops on Mill Ave, the Electric Ballroom, TMC days, the days of battling at Metro Center Mall, but we need to make a sound so Hip Hop can respect whats coming out of here.


17. One thing I picked up from your bio: Your mother participated in a journey from San Francisco Bay to Washington D.C and you were born there. I want to clarifiy: She was pregnant with you during the journey?? And did she travel by foot? Tell me more about the journey. I now know where you get your strength from.

No she did all the public relations and she traveled a city before the marchers and yes she was pregnant with me, so I came out fighting for freedom, justice and equality.



18. "I'm not here to beat people in the head with a sermon, I'm here to tell the truth." A strong message to tell people. But what do you do when people don't listen? how difficult can it get for your music to fall on deaf ears?

I just keep going until someone listens, if I can have at least one person listen then by the grace of God, they will turn my postive words into action that may change a nation... So I just keep telling the truth! The truth always gets heard whether in my lifetime or not.

19. What's next for the Queen?

I am releasing a mixtape called "All Hail the Queen" and it will be released on cellphone applications with other exclusive stuff that will be coming in June. I am heading back on the road hopefully by May and for the whole summer. I am basically just recording and collabing with alot of artists. I am really excited about whats transpiring and this will not be the last you hear from me!

I lost my mother in 2003, I was homeless, I lost children, I lost loved ones and was in horrible relationships but all this made me the strong queen I am today and that's why I was chosen to be called a Queen not because I have riches and act high and mighty but because I remained to be truthful and remain real and keep faith on God. I love you all !!!

4. What got you to start modeling?
Honestly, I never thought of myself as a model however encountering various amazing and talented photographers made me consider modeling and giving it a try.

Watching telenovelas with my grandmother lol

7. What films/TV shows did you play a role in? Did you play a major role in them? What TV shows can we expect you in next?
I played Shavoo's Girl on Next Day Air which came out in May 2009

I'm now working on my stand up routine and strengthening my comedy muscle.

8. If you had to choose between modeling and acting, which one would you go for and why?
Modeling is another form of acting to me...however I prefer acting in TV and films

9. What would be the perfect photoshoot for you? (You pick the scenery, clothing, photographer, etc. You have all options.)
Shooting with Dave LaChapelle would be awesome!

10. Sometimes you would do photoshoots, in the nude. Why did you decide to go that route?
I'm comfortable with my body...as long as it has artistic integrity I'm down!

11. What magazines/music videos have you appeared in? What are the next ones that's coming up?
I've work with Benny Boom, Chris Robinson, Erik White, Erick Peyton, Bryan Barber...all incredible music video directors.
The lastest one I'm on is Snoop Dogg and Soulja Boy's "Pronto Video"

12. This might be a stupid question. But most of my girlfriends i went out with all my life were Dominician. So explain to me how Dominican women get to be so appealing. Lol. And when people get excited because you say you are from D.R, how do you feel about that?
I love the passion that Dominican woman bring to the table. Most of us grew up in festive and sheltered environments, that would make it so that we would be able to hold it down at the crib and get it cracking whenever necessary. I think men find that sexy!

13. Explain to me the difficulty of making it as an actress of Hispanic descent or any minority for that matter:
Anything in life requires persistence and dedication...one finds out very quickly if they have what it takes to make it in this industry.

14. I know you listened to bacheta at some point. Tell me your favorite songs.
I love Alexandra y Monchy!

15. Do you cook? What is your favorite dish to make?
I am an extraordinary cook! I make a tasty and delicious Teriyaki Salmon with baked butternut squash and asparagus drizzled with Olive Oil and sprinkeled with sugar then grilled. My cheesecake and baking skills are also on point.

16.. Your opinion on guys in general. You believe there is a soulmate for everyone?
I believe there are various soulmates at different stages in ur life. My soulmates don't only include my lovers it also includes my friends and family.

17. In your opinion(and be totally honest) how long does a couple have to be exclusive before they start heating up the bedroom?
That's depends on the connection and what both parties are looking for. One has to do what works for them and be prepared to deal with consequences of their actions.

Currently I'm writing and preparing to produce my own show ideas.
