DJ Rob Swift - The Architect
This morning, just like every morning, I look into hiphopdx.com to read on news, album reviews, and everything else. HipHopDX is like CNN to me. Today they wrote a review on DJ Rob Swift, from Jackson Heights, Queens and his new album, The Architect. This album shows that the turntable is a real instrument, as well as a core item in Hip hop history. In 2010, when the art of turntablism is generally digital, Rob Swift showed once again how this artform is portrayed. Immediately I became a fan as well should you. Turntablism is not dead. Its like Nas' Hip Hop is dead album when he proved otherwise.
You don't believe me? See for yourself.
Roc Raida would be proud.
(P.S. X-ecutioners is one of the reasons why i became a DJ.....in the first place)
Cop the album.

Thursday's Tastycake: Alakia Monique
If you were/are a college student, you remember how busy you were, with all these papers, exams, projects and anything the professors can do to take up all your time. Then, imagine you also was part of a college talk show, sing and dance, and model for an agency. You think you would be able to do it? I got one woman that can. She's doing all of the above and anything else that can get her to the top. Meet a very determined, yet gorgeous, Georgian Peach, Miss Alakia Monique.
As i seen your bio, I have to say you have many talents/crafts. And your only 20. I got to give you a lot of respect for your ambition.
- Thanks, I believe in striving for any goal there is in life you want to accomplish. I am only 20, But I have big dreams in which I want to turn into reality
What seems a more intriguing fact: That you have many trades or that you are 20, a "prodigy"?
- I'm always willing to learn new things in life.
What got you into modeling?
- The feeling of knowing you can create a nice picture. I think of modeling as a creation
What you like about modeling? What you don't like about it?
- I love modeling because it allows me to be more creative with my appearance. I don’t have a 'bad' side of modeling. I would recommend all aspiring Models to be very determined and also learn to become an independent worker. The industry is very competitive so you must have self motivation in order to survive...
I congratulate you on continuing your education at Georgia State. To you, how important is it to gain education for young adults like you and I? And what is your major?
- Gaining Education is the key to success. My major is Childhood Education; My Grandmother is a retired Elementary teacher, watching her as a child added to my decision for becoming a Pre-K or 1st grade teacher.
One thing I want to address is the talk show you are a part of: The Express Lane by Play J productions. You guys are not afraid to tackle any issue that had to be addressed. How did the idea of Express Lane came about?
--- The idea of The Express Lanes Co- Founder and Present is my good friend James Camper. He simply wanted to discuss many topics that college students are ‘frightened’ to talk about amongst each other. We’ve had topics such as; Sex in college, Gays in America, and absent fathers.
So what does Freedom of Speech means to you?
- The ability to express your feelings, and/or concerns without hesitation.
What do you think is the most controversial topic to discuss. Why? and how would you address it?
- Absent Fathers in Americas; I would use my success as a young African American female as an example. Statistics state that most females with absent fathers are most likely to quit high school, etc. basically fall of track. I’m doing the exact opposite.
Ok let me stop being serious lol. You going through exams, class notes and all that. What does Alakia like to do in her free time?
--- I love, love, love to dance and I also sing, shop, and go places to eat ( I LOVE FOOD-LOL ) with my family whenever we're not busy.. I’m very family orientated
Since you're in Georgia, let me ask you: Is Atlanta really the hot spot that EVERYONE perceive it to be?
--- Atlanta is a busy city-lol. I'm from Augusta Ga so things are a little slower here.
Your favorite artists?
---- My favorite artist is Beyonce Knowles - She is a very good performer. I can see a true passion for singing/dancing whenever she performs; she gives her all.
Who you prefer? Jeezy? Gucci? Tip?
--- lol- I would have to say Gucci, only because that’s the only artist I listen to out of the three.
How was your high school life? How many dudes try to holla at you? Lol
In High School I was Cheerleader (4 years) I was also a member of Renaissance Leadership ( 2years) and a Senior Adopter , I worked at Sonic's to help my mom with housing bills. I was a very busy young lady; but I knew I wanted to do all that I could throughout high school so giving up or quitting was not an option.
Say a dude see you from across the street. And wanted to holla(it probably happens everyday lol). He steps up to you. What does he have to do to get your number?
---- Approach me with a nice demeanor. That includes your physical and mental
Out of all the hobbies that you have, what is the one hobby you see yourself doing from here on out?
---- Dancing, exercising –lol staying in shape!
What magazines/videos will we see you next in?
---- Urban Films.net , FLY music Video, and this artist by the name of IShowtime Music Video
What will you be doing 5 years from now?
-- Successful; Traveling to Modeling jobs all over the world - lol

Thursday's Tastycake: Samone’
This woman has the personality that makes you gain a Kool-Aid smile. She's also intellectual, but as smooth as a J Dilla beat that I'm listening to. And even though we got to handle a lot of things in our lives that keeps us busy, she found the time to converse with me. Hope you enjoy the interview as much as I did. And for all the dudes(and some chicks) here, this eye candy gives you cavities. Lol. :) Only people with unique personalities can have one name. This is no different. meet: Samone’

A typical shoot starts with wardrobe, get your fit together then your off to hair and make-up….after that is where all the action takes place!!
8. Do you think girls can look up to a model? Why or Why not?
Yes a true MODEL…….a model isn't just a pretty face. Along with the beauty you have to have confidence, tenacity, and poise.

Pffft! You ain't All that!
Lately I've been getting stories through the grapevine on who's acting snobby and who's not in the industry. Ok let me stop playing. I'm been hearing them stories since I was born. I probably was 3 months when I realized Areosmith won't give me the time of day. The question is: Is this right?
I mean, you as a fan support them in every way. You download their music (even if you don't buy them you still ride for them). Ok, some of you still buy their music. You go to their shows. You buy whatever sneaker, perfume or condom they marketing. But do you honestly believe if you see your favorite artist walking down the street, they would give you the time of day? Here's the question again? Is this right?
Flip the script: You been an underground artist for 5 years. You found a crazy beat, made the track and all of a sudden you #1 on the billboard. You're filthy rich. You shining like the sun at 10pm on Broad St and Cecil B Moore(temple univ.) A fan comes to you, overwhelmed that they share the same breath as you. Supported you since day one (or last month, whatever). But when they ask for an autograph you look at them and pass them by like they homeless bums on Market Street. Is this right?
Well...who knows? Maybe the celebrity tried being humane and got robbed or got hurt so now he's being overcautious. Or maybe he doesn't know how to struggle a day in the entertainment business so he thinks the world is given on a silver platter. Or just simply there are too many fans to stop and say hi. If an artist signed every autograph after a show he/she would never leave the venue.
Or maybe he/she can be an amazing artist but a shallow person. Just because he spits crazy bars or sings the high note doesn't mean he/she is Mother Teresa or the pope. Shit, he/she can be the opposite.
(And don't get me started on some artists that charge people to perform for charities, even Haiti. I'll save that as blackmail)
So is it right for a celebrity to snub a fan? I'll leave that up to you.

NY Oil - HH4H What's next ??? Show and Prove!
One of the forefronts of the Hip Hop 4 Haiti movement is none other than NY underground icon, NY Oil. He organized the event in Harlem, which was memorable. More importantly, he is driving the topic to save my country into everyone's heads long after the news stations stop reporting on it. He wrote an inspiring open letter about our movement. Simply....what's next? Understand, our quest to save and rebuild Haiti is just starting and it's a long road to our promise land. Check for yourself:
(If you are a part of hiphop4haiti.ning.com, you probably read this letter before. I just feel the need to post this to the rest of society. It's been one month that this nation was shaken off its core. I won't let people forget that.)
As HH4H (the national event) winds down, I am left with a few thoughts as my perspective gets wider. Initially I felt like all we had to do was get through the event, make it to Sunday (the event was Saturday Jan 30th
if you didn’t know), I was wrong. The event provided new realizations about not
only HipHop4Haiti and specifically HH4HNYC but also what our generation our
sub-culture needs.
A consistent question kept arising throughout the course of the night, “What’s Next!?!?” this sentiment was shared by so many that night that were “Fired Up and Ready to go!!”. What’s
next? As the night approached, began, and ended the realization that the event
was actually less about Haiti and more about “What’s Next!?!” became apparent.
Now listen, I’m not saying this to suggest in any way that the issues of Haiti have been resolved because we were able to through a nationwide event! What I am saying is that there were
layers lines and subtext that became evident to me (in an acute fashion as they
had always been evident, but not to this extent) that have to be addressed.
On this night so many people came together and worked together, that had never met, or worked together before and were able to accomplish a mission together. A momentum began in the
inspiration, unity and collective focus of all of us involved that none of us
want to relinquish. You see nothing succeeds like success, and we experienced a
success that night. We had set small goals in front of us and accomplished them
one and two and three at a time and each goal led to a large accomplishment.
Then, we completed the effort by delivering the monies collected, all $2,062.30
at the event to Dr. Ron Daniels (IBW/HRF) which was the crowning jewel to our
efforts.
The Nation of Gods and Earths say “Showing is to state it and Proving makes it valid”… now some people recite these things without real thought, but think about what’s being said. In our “revolutionary”
efforts we are often lent to more talk than action. And while the talk has some
therapeutic value for the people it provides no real equity to the cause of
uplifting the conditions of our communities, ultimately it is hollow comfort.
But to Show and Prove, now that’s something different! See talk is just a
verbal manifestation of thought, and where thought may lead to action it is NOT
action and the world we live in requires tangible action. Showing on the other
hand turns theory to reality by demonstrating these verbalized concepts into
tangible action items. Think of it in this light, going to a rally or meeting
and hearing people discuss what “WE AS A PEOPLE NEED TO DO…” and thinking to
yourself ‘oh boy here goes this B.S. again’ –vs.- someone standing up and
saying “THIS IS WHAT WE ARE DOING.. COME SEE FOR YOURSELF” That’s a whole
different world of experience and activity. So it is clear that in this day and
age, if it were not true at any other time in history, it is vital that we build
our movement on a foundation of Showing to state our case.
Proving makes things valid by providing a tangible instance that proves that
what has been shown actually WORKS. When we take HH4H NYC as an example of Show
and Prove instead of theorizing and talking about it Lyxn, Pat-ra, Shani, Oveta,
Lanell, myself and many other Showed we could unify a cross section of Hip Hop
artist activist and practitioners in the same space to raise money and awareness
for a focused objective. The proof came in the form of us accomplishing the
whole of the objective by successfully delivering the funds we’d collected to
the IBW/Haiti Relief fund. When we dropped $2,062.30 in the donation tray on
behalf of the HIP HOP Community, we proved! We showed what could be done and
proved it by completing the task.
So the question “What’s Next!?!” still begs an answer. The answer is to show and prove! By setting small goals concatenated towards a larger effort, by following each one through to conclusion, we can
begin to Show and Prove to our communities that not only is CHANGE possible, it
is inevitable, and that it is born from our efforts as individuals and collectively.
By showing and proving we can turn the momentum of our efforts into more than 1
day, 1 moment.. we can turn our efforts into a true MOVEMENT.
I hope you join us in our efforts to continue to do REAL WORK that produces REAL RESULTS by Showing and Proving it can be done!
To this ends HH4H NYC will now be known as HipHop 4H where the H stands for Humanity, Hunger, Help, Homeless, Her, Him, for Healing, and whatever else Hip Hop can address in a proactive
goal oriented fashion. HipHop 4H will not require you to leave what you already
have, or follow a doctrine, believe in a special GOD, abandon your friends,
edify a particular individual, HipHop 4H is about working to get specific
things completed, HipHop 4H is about ‘doing
things by priority, doing them properly, and then moving on to the next!’, HipHop
4H is about showing an proving.
If that’s something you’d like to work with us to accomplish.. results … give us a shout!

Thursday's Tastycake: Latoya Maureen
Just like State Your Name I'm going to start a segment on my blog every Thursday with an in-depth look into the world of modeling. Ok, Ok and to give you a dose of eye candy. Instead of being another horny outlet trying to get in her pants, I'm going to show the world that models have brains too.
So for the first model I interviewed here at Benzimusiq, here's a reason that great thinks come from Nebraska. She got her world in her hands and looks good doing it. She don't need to model because of her intelligence, but her eye candy appeal gives you cavities. More things are coming from this great mother of two. Meet: Latoya Maureen
1. It's a pleasure doing this interview with you. U really must be something after i saw just one picture from DJ Whut it Dew lol.
What inspired you to be a model?
Well, Ive always had a thing for creativity. I enjoy everything about photography. From the make-up, hair, fashion, lighting and balance... I love the whole game. I've always wanted to model when I was younger. What can I say, I love the flashing lights.
2. What's your work looking like to this day?(which magazines, photographers, music videos, etc)
I justed start going in on modeling in December 09. I landed the January cover of Krushin Magazine and thats www.KrushinMagagzine.com for those that would like to check it out. Im currently doing an issue for the SEA Magazine and Crunk Magazine this March and thats pretty exciting. Also my website is schedueled to be launched in March as well. Work is work and Im taking advantage of all opportunities minor or major. I havent done a video yet but its 2010 I might as well.
3. I gotta ask for the men out there. Measurements?
34D-27-43 ALL REAL... fake booty's dont giggle like mine *wink*
4. I see you are from Nebraska. How was everyday life in a midwestern town? Family life?
It has its ups and down. A great place to raise a family and stay focussed. I came back here because the schools are great and I needed to finish my degree. I currently have an Associate in International Business and Im currently finishing up my Bacholors at Bellevue University GO BU!!! I have two handsome sons, Tahj and Tavon, which are my world. I work for an insurance company Mon-Fri 9-5. My personal life is busy but it keeps me on my toes. Im living the single life and loving it.
5. I also see you been in many cities. How important was it to you to move from Nebraska to bigger cities to persue modeling?
Actually I moved to Columbia (Colo) South Carolina in 2007 to work for my Aunt's insurance firm. I never intended to get into modeling until I met a few great people such as Lamech Darin that told me I could really do it. I started doing promotional modeling for Caolina Honeys and others and it went from there. That summer of 2007 was the best! When I came back to Nebraska I stopped and now Im touching a side I have never touched before and Im enjoying it.
6. What else do you like to do besides modeling? What are your hobbies?
I love to sing and write music. Its what I do! I love writing in general such as poetry, short stories and such. I just finished my play called "Broken Chains" that is amazing if I may say so myself. I love shopping of course, movies, dinners, and good ol family time.
7. How you feel about the modeling business? Anything you like or dislike? example: Do some people try to connect with you other than business?
The business is tough. There is a lot of competition and the woman are beautiful. It all depends on how you market yourself and what makes you stand out. Every girl is trying to have the biggest booty or boobies or even both. They go to such deadly measures to get these things and some girls even die from trying to get it. The image of what industry considers beautiful is what I dislike. This may sound far fetch for some but I think every woman is beautiful in their own way. I feel like a model shouldn’t have to look a certain way. I think being a model is so much more than the 'image', the picture is its own story.
There are so many men that abuse the use of a model and try to mix business with pleasure. What saddens me is the woman that feel like they have to sacrifice their bodies to get some pictures taken, get in the video, or the magazines. I remember shooting with this photographer that tried to touch me during the shoot. I slapped the "piss fire" out of him and left. Things like that happen all the time. If the woman would do better the men would have no choice to do better because WE WOMAN MAKE THE WORLD TURN!
8. Say you have all power for one day. What is the one thing you would do in this world?
Help single parent mothers achieve their goals.
9. Your opinion about today's youth.
Our youth is very materialistic and out of control. They feed for the same things we feed for... "flashing lights"
10. You opinion about fashion. And your favorite thing to wear.
I LOVE fashion. Fashion is a representation of a persons individualism. I love wearing my heals and dresses when I go out. Sex and City is my fashion motivation! Love those girls. I like to be fabulous baby! *wink*
11. Turn-ons in a man
A BOSS!!!!!! lol
God fearing man!! A man with exceptional hygiene. Attentive, athletically build with fashion sense. Red bottoms and V- necks drive me crazy and especially if they have the tat on the collar bone. OMG!! I cant even talk about it anymore.
12. Turn-offs in a man
I have a list. Like to hear it here it go:
Dirty nails
Bad breath
Messy house
Insecure
Overly cocky
Clingy
A man that acts like a "Bitch"
13. Worst pick-up line a man ever said to you. Best pick-up line a man said to you.
Can I pay to eat you out. I swear on my momma I have been asked that at least 10 times. Just nasty!!
14. What are the chances a regular dude can get a date with you.
I love "regular" men. I love them all. I have dated a few men in higher places and they're cool. But the chances are high for any man as long as the treat me right. I can ride in a bucket one day and a Maybach the next, it dont make me no nevermind. Im into his heart not his pockets. Baby got her own.
15. I see you do it all. Make-up, hair, etc. What is the one thing you like to do more than the others?
I would like to get deeper into photography and graphics. Be the lady behind the camera instead of in front of it.
16. Future Plans
Skies the limits. I got so many things going on with modeling,, music, and writing. I plan on being on top in the future to say the least.

Lil Wayne last interview before jail/Aftermath??
Got Lil Wayne's interview with Tim Westwood TV. It was going to be his last, but after his grill saved him, he got more time. So as many of you bid on his grill to get police immunity, here's the vid
Supposedly, he's supposed to go to Rikers island in NY...(i know people that never came out of Rikers...w/o life sentences) The questions are:
1. You think Lil Wayne can handle a year sentence?
2. Do you think he will change when he gets out?
3. Whats with this stupid shit of FREE Lil Wayne...when he NOT BOOKED YET!?
PPL CHILL. FALL BACK. lol
P.S. I heard Jahlil beats in the background. Gonna be #1 producer in the game. Watch out for him!

Money to Blow video......parody
I don't know what to say about this improv. I don't know whether to be ashamed that girls from Manhattan can make a rap group as good as Young Money or amused because the top team of hip hop can be made fun of so bad.
This NEVER happened back in 1994-96 With Bad Boy or Death Row. You probably would have been shot. lmao. But with this, they got a lot of talent. Be grateful Suge Knight ain't around.
If You want to see these girls live, their next show is the 19th of this month.

Snowpacalypse II
In December when we got smacked with 22 inches of snow I thought that was the worst of it. Then i heard we getting another blizzard. I go to priceline.com for a ticket to go to Miami, only to see the cheapest ticket is $650. i realized I'm not that ballin, so i try going to VA to find out they getting smacked too. The end result is 20 inches and counting around my house with 25-mph winds.
Ready for Snowpacalypse II. Starring me.
Snow came up to mom's knees.
So...sponsors? Help me out!!! Maybe next time this happens I can be in Miami...or wherever theres no snow. BBL...shoveling..

STATE YOUR NAME: Young - No: Team Randolph
As a DJ, one of our responsibilities is to show light on independent artists that's putting in work. Basically a Who's next in the game. I noticed this dude as he pulling in all stops to become a mogul, not just an artist. With his motive, this ain't the last time you hear from him, especially when I'm hosting his next tape, Warning Shots: Reloaded. First post of STATE YOUR NAME, GANGSTA.
http://www.young-no.blogspot.com/
Young - No
1. Introduce yourself to the rest of the world.
What's popping world, this the kid Young-No, TGE Music Group, Team Randolph repersenter, going hard as always!
2. I see your grind. Blogspot, Fashion. mixtapes like coast to coast. u was on my homie dj ames tapes. ur grind is very respectable. So basically you adapting to this age that rappin aint the only way of making money anymore.
That was always apart of my plan, never just be a rapper. There's a bigger picture for me, that's why I keep my self in different business ventures to reach success.
3. How many people are on your team?
Honestly I can't put a number on my team, it varies every other day! Just know I have a solid team that will get the job done, the others are just affiliates.
4. How long you been rapping for? How was it from the start?
I've been rapping since 03, that's when I graduated from high school. This success road has it's up's and downs, but i'm still here getting business handled. My passion keeps me going, also my family!
5. How did team randolph came about?
Team Randolph started by just putting all our business ventures into one umbrella. We have so much going on that we had to narrow it down to just one name, that repersents all our companies into one body. Team Randolph was the most natural, so we ran with it.
6. What is the team goal.......3-5 years from now? Being SUCCESSFUL!
7.Other things you like to do besides Rap?
Besides rap, I like to take it easy and relax with my family, spend time with the wifey and my daughter, Also I like to create new designs for the clothing. Basically just relax.
8. What you think about the game as of today? 5 years down the road
The game right now in my opinion is cool, I can't complain. There's going to be things you like, and there's going to be things you dislike. So right now, The game is 50/50. 5 years down the road, the position of hip-hop is going to be different, because Team Randolph is going to be running it! LOL!
9. Your fav. artists?
Just to name a few, Jay-z, Lil' Wayne, Bun B, Juelz Santana, and i'm also rocking with B.o.B. and Drake.
10. You think there are more rappers than fans?
Nope! I think there's more fans then rappers, That's just my opinion.
11. Does the presidency of Barack Obama impacted you in any way? What lessons do you think an average black man can learn from this?
Barack Obama impacted me in a huge way, just becuase he's a black man in office, they said that could never happen. He showed me there's no limits to your vision, no matter your race, age, and ect. This should be a lesson for all, not just black men. Dream when you sleep, but when your awake live your visions.
12. any hardships you had to go through?
I can't even explain all my hardships, Just know this is not an easy road. If your not built for this grind, find something else to do ASAP!
13. how important is the dj? name 5 djs u admire
The DJ is very important in my opinon, I can't name just 5, but any DJ that's on there grind and keeping it humble i'm shouting you out! cause that means alot to Team Randolph and myself.
14. if you werent rapping what would you do by now?
If I wasn't rapping, I would still be in the music scene as a CEO of my company, helping upcoming artist live there dreams. Also just living life with my family, that's very important to me.
15 Lebron or Kobe? Kobe all day!
16. Favre or Manning? or Brees? Peterson or Johnson Favre, been a fan since day 1!. That's an living legend. Big shout out to Johnson i'm rocking with you big homie!
17. Contact info. YNOBooking@gmail.com for all business matters, www.Teamrandolph.blogspot.com, www.Young-No.blogspot.com, www.WRClothing.com and follow me on twitter @ www.Twitter.com/MrDeasTGE
18. Your opinions on Haiti and what you plan to do about it.
The Haiti situation is a diaster, I've already donated what I can offer to help out with the families over there in Haiti. To Be honest I wish I was in a better postition, because I could do alot more. I sent my prayers out and I know they will get answered. Benz, if you ever need my help with anything, you know where to find me! My hand is always extended.
Great interview.

Hip Hop 4 Haiti - Harlem
This event was legendary. This Day was legendary!! I was going to go down to Richmond, VA to be the spokesperson of the event. God put 8 inches of snow on them and said push it a week back. So after i watch Philly's event, i went to the African American Museum in Harlem for their event and to tell you the truth, i'm never forgetting that day in my life. Hip Hop legends and icons flood the stage to perform but the more touching stories are the independent acts that taught the crowd of Haitian history. NY Oil put together a spectacular show and since I love my viewers I'm going to share this with ya'll. Please continue to support Haiti in any way you can! Jus cuz the news stations left Haiti doesn't mean we have to!
